About Us

Danish-Chinese Association for Film and Culture (DKFFK)

The Danish-Chinese Association for Film and Culture (DKFFK) is a non-profit organization based in Denmark, committed to fostering dialogue, understanding, and collaboration between the Chinese and Danish film and cultural industries. By using film as a universal language, the association aims to build a long-term, meaningful bridge between the two nations—connecting professionals, institutions, and audiences through shared artistic expression and cultural experience.

DKFFK’s primary mission is to promote mutual appreciation and cooperation through high-quality film and cultural events. We work to increase awareness of Chinese cinema in Denmark, showcase the diversity and depth of Chinese storytelling traditions, and simultaneously create opportunities for Danish filmmakers to be seen and heard in China. In doing so, we support cross-cultural collaboration, co-productions, and professional exchanges that lead to new creative possibilities.

Throughout the year, DKFFK organizes film screenings, cultural festivals, panel discussions, workshops, and networking events. These programs aim to engage both industry professionals and the general public. From intimate seminars to large-scale events, DKFFK curates meaningful experiences that bring Chinese and Danish perspectives together.

The association has received strong support from both public and private sectors in Denmark and has been recognized by key institutions in China, including CCTV-6 (China Central Television Movie Channel) and the FIRST International Film Festival in Xining. These relationships further reinforce DKFFK’s role as a cultural ambassador and facilitator between the two nations.

DKFFK is open to individuals and organizations interested in film, culture, and Danish-Chinese collaboration. Whether you’re a filmmaker, artist, student, academic, or simply a lover of cinema and cultural exchange, we welcome you to be part of our growing network.

The association is governed by a democratically elected board, including a Chairperson, Treasurer, and up to five additional board members, each serving a term of three years. Our work is guided by clear statutes, and we operate in both Danish and Chinese. All funding—sourced from membership fees, donations, sponsorships, and cultural grants—is used exclusively to support our activities and mission.

As we continue to grow, DKFFK remains dedicated to serving as a trusted cultural platform—connecting, inspiring, and supporting the future of Chinese-Danish film and cultural relations.

More than just film development

At DKFFK, we provide a wide range of services aimed at supporting film and cultural collaboration between Denmark and China. Our programs are designed to facilitate real exchange—between people, projects, and ideas—and to bring together creative communities from both countries.

One of our core services is event organization, which includes film screenings, curated film weeks, cultural exhibitions, and live panel discussions. We curate these events with the intention of introducing Chinese cinema to Danish audiences and vice versa, offering rich cultural insights and firsthand experiences of each country’s artistic voice.

We also host professional seminars, workshops, and networking sessions that connect filmmakers, producers, distributors, and scholars. These programs are particularly valuable for those seeking co-production opportunities, joint research initiatives, or entry points into each other’s film industries. We act as facilitators, creating space for conversations that lead to collaboration.

DKFFK actively supports film industry delegations, study trips, and academic exchanges. We work with universities, film schools, and cultural institutions to organize meaningful visits and immersive experiences that open doors for future partnerships. These exchanges not only benefit professionals but also nurture the next generation of talent in both countries.

In addition, we provide consultation and matchmaking services for individuals and organizations looking to navigate the Chinese or Danish cultural landscape. Whether it’s finding the right production partner, connecting with a cultural institution, or understanding how to enter a foreign market, we offer tailored guidance based on our extensive network and local expertise.

As a cultural association, we also welcome collaborative proposals and international partnerships, and are happy to co-develop programs, co-host events, or support new initiatives that align with our mission of strengthening cultural understanding through film.
